Masato Date, who had been assigned to the Yamanote Police Station, was a sensitive soul, the kind who would tear up while reading children’s picture books. Date was immediately assigned to escort a man suspected of murder, but the suspect began complaining of stomach pain. His partner, veteran detective Hirai, dismissed it as a lie, but Date persuaded him that it didn’t seem like an act and took the suspect to the hospital.
