Teiu ka Keizai tte Muzukashii Janai desu ka

The main character is a 36-year-old female section manager at a general trading company, who in her 20s was called an "oyaji gyaru," but is now a middle manager who understands both her boss's position and the arguments of younger employees. The book is written from the perspective of how the Japanese economy and corporate society are viewed by these women, who are in a position to see the corporate organization from the angle of a clear observer. For example, she points out that the popular phrase "global standards" is often trivialized to mean that one must be proficient in English and information technology, and that many people use this phrase as a shield to try to impose their own standards on others. This book shows how to relax one's shoulders and laugh at the ridiculousness of Japanese corporate society. (Source: Nikkei BP, translated and edited)
